About to put an EJ22 into my 90 T3 Auto
Anyone give me a list of parts I need to grab from the donor. I am gonna hook the air back up, so EJ has the air on it still.
Just wanna make sure I grab the essential parts.
Cheers
a way of making the auto kick down
The engine complete, ECU (computer), wiring loom complete, ignition module, relays on wiring loom (2 I think), Air cond pump, two rubber hoses that leave the air cond pump, engine mounts (round type are preferable as they fit with more sumps), exhaust system header pipes, air flow meter (should be on engine anyway)
Thanks Hellbus, always good advice. Auto kick down? why is that going to be an issue ... more info please?

thanks a heap...
Hi
There is some useful information here http://www.vwrx.com/ The water 2 trans oil cooler
is bad idea on any car, a failure sees the trans filling with coolant. If its the same as an Audi I had, I just bought some nipples and fittings from
a hydraulic supplies shop to replace the banjo bolts on the trans and then run some hoses to a trans cooler at the front of the car.
Steve
+++sigh+++ this all sounds too hard already.
Don't worry Number one brother Kimm will get it sorted. He loves a challenge
sure ... but this is an obsticle I have not considered, so like to at least know the 'gist' of it all. Faith in the Chief is without question ... though you have to be Brave to ask dumb shit questions of the Chief....
Changing the shift on the auto is really not necessary, just for those who like to rev the tits off their engine. I have the stock 010 auto in my bay
(same as yours without the external cooler). There is an accelerator cable to the auto kickdown lever in the bay, then a mechanical linkage to the
carbs. I simply done away with the mechanical linkage, and made a short accel cable which goes from the kickdown lever to the throttle body. job done.
Still kicks down quite well.
Agree external air to trans fluid cooler is a good idea though.

If he didn't like dumb shit questions, we would never have got our first conversation past "Hello". I s'pose if you went pre-armed with a bit of
research he would have something to work with.
Tell him I said hello
I didn't ask about issues with the auto before, so now I know there may be an issue then it's all good. There will be a solution. If he can keep
that 400hp monster cool, then mine won't be a drama. Just at the point where I go collect the motor ... so wanna make sure I'm prepared for the work
ahead (not that I do any of course).
Looking forward to my '07 project. Hows yer new donk David? Happening thing yet?
Top secret, if I told you I would have to kill you.
Thanks everyone for the info, at a board meeting today, it was decided that this is not a good idea, so it's all off
If your gonna go to the trouble of fitting up the Subi donk, the mods to the trans to make it survive are but a small part of the conversion..... Once you have a Subi powered VW, you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner....
