PUNCH_BUG - February 12th, 2007 at 06:49 PM

13BVW I have pics of the brakes but they arn't on the car yet, im still stripping the car back to the chassis so it can be soda blasted and painted before it goes to the pannel shop.

Anthony, will be running the standard comp untill everything is ironed out then later on still planning on using the apexi power FC at this stage, They are still available on fleabay... The main thing is to get it on the road first, and i've still got a long way to go.

humpty - February 23rd, 2007 at 08:04 PM

This front brake conversion is a copy of what I have on my Daily Driver Squareback.... Works very well.... But I thinking about upgrading the master cylinder to a golf deal and upgrading the rear discs to some of Neils Falcon jobbies.... The current Magna rears are a little under powered compared to the fronts... IMHO.

We will be pulling down these brakes soon to make some copies of my adapters and then we will need to modify them to suit Lukes car and the drop spindles on my LP beam (63 Notch) and Neils LP beam (Dragon).... Yes thats right.... I have a narrowed LP beam in my Notch!

Stay tuned.....

1303Steve - February 25th, 2008 at 02:52 PM

Hi

Those headers look pretty nice, but maybe a bit low.

Steve

PUNCH_BUG - February 25th, 2008 at 05:51 PM

Steve, You are right, it has been difficult to find a set that 'hug' the motor enough, they will probably have to be modified, as well as shortening the sump, as well as moving the motor back in towards the car a couple of inches bit. The airfilter isn't going to be haning out like that, it will be plumbed back into the engine bay with venting to allow fresh cool air.

PUNCH_BUG - February 25th, 2008 at 06:01 PM

Old turbo TD05 and the new VF34

PUNCH_BUG - February 25th, 2008 at 06:05 PM

vintage vee dub, uses the bug nose cone on the bus box.... built with a super diff and albins gears.

PUNCH_BUG - February 25th, 2008 at 06:09 PM

Gene Berg mid mount which at the moment has been welded in, however I think im going to modify this as well as the factory nose cone mount to allow the motor to go back a couple of inches.

PUNCH_BUG - February 27th, 2008 at 12:07 AM

Simon, come around anytime. Although it's not much to look at the moment. Beer will be cold. :)

seagull - March 3rd, 2008 at 03:11 AM

No you have a TD04 simon , the TD05H is on the blue wrx race car

bugdv8 - March 9th, 2008 at 08:58 PM

bell housing to fit subaru engine to kombi gearbox ,
not cheap though. allows use of subaru flywheel ,
pull to realease subaru clutch and the better subaru starter motor , would go great with that nose cone adapter.

hey nice job so far. Two questions for you: those front calipers are they rx7 or possibly skylines? The 091 adapter you got, is that a local berg copy, it looks cast is that right? what sort of coin is one worth? I was going to get a cnc one from Canada but they are 500.

Cheers for you time

Stephen

seagull - May 6th, 2008 at 09:17 PM

lukes keeping the bad guys off the street

The front calipers are Rx7 correct , these are compact & work very well
The 091 is a beg unit $350.00 ish + shipping , however the burg units are only made for 1800 boxes , so we had lazer cut a adapter plate to space it out 8mm , this also helps keep the box from spreading apart .The box has been built by chris ( country ) in Perth , there is many tricks in side this box with further selector slides fitted on the shift rods .Chris builds all the off road buggy race boxes & does alot for Albins when they need some thing done right .

PUNCH_BUG - May 7th, 2008 at 01:57 AM

G'day Stephen, Only just read your post, the adaptor was from vintage vee dub in the states, took months to get here, it is a cast but some of the wait was for the CNCing to be done. The bloke makes them for drag bugs in the states. According to him the geneberg ones have much thinner walls and tend not to last long and end up failing. I can hunt down the details of where I got it from if you want, if you are going to get one, pay the extra and get it posted by air.

Its still a pretty big job to get the 2lt box with the EJ20 in the back though, will be good in the long run but a lot easier to use a SSP 1600 box, Ill put some more photo's up soon, I've modified the mounts a fair bit, moved the gearbox back 100mm and also rasied the motor up so the clearence should be fine with the standard sump and the headers that I have on (I hope).

humpty - May 7th, 2008 at 09:36 PM

Hey Luke....Have you got a complete strut and spindle you can chuck my way.... I've done all the other project stuff for other peeps and I'm ready to start on those RX calipers for you... I have made the brackets for my LP beam equipped Notch and it should be a simple process to mod them for your car...

Give us a call when you can...

555bug - May 7th, 2008 at 11:19 PM

cheers for the reply, i've got lots of goodies for my 091 and lots more on the way when funds are available. Nice job with the fd3 calipers, i have adapted wrx calipers but they are to big so I was considering this as a more cost effective option.

Stephen

seagull - May 8th, 2008 at 12:48 AM

Simon the struts & spindels are here as well as the calipers & hubs
