Suzuki G13B

Anyone used this engine for a conversion? Looks pretty compact, apparently they weigh about 63 kg. Puts out 74kw. I've seen some used on dirt racing buggies with kombi boxes.

Any thoughts? I've done some quick browsing, and it looks like turbo setups are fairly cheap for them.

great motor. thing is they are getting a bit old and they are only 1300cc. SR20 isn't much bigger physically, is 2000cc and comes with a factory turbo, as does the EJ20 so the G13B's not as good value as you might think. I'd only use one if I was racing in an under 1300cc class, and even then the Hyabusa motor is better value putting out nearly double the power.

SR20 has an alloy block, too and - apparently, not 100 percent sure - better valve gear that survives higher revs for longer

Earlier Suzis were just over 1300cc, later ones (not sure what year the stroke change was made) are under 1300cc by a few CCs so can race in under 1300cc classes

In-line fours... a flat four is a much nicer fit in a VW

Depends on whether you want to rev the ring out of it all the time to keep it on the move as they aren't known to be over endowed with torque.
