Boof2332 is currently making me one. It's about 45mm shorter than stock. U2U him for a contact detail. If you can't get on to him, I'll give it to you.

i was thinking about this the other day and what are peoples thoughts on using an oil cooler, like on auto trannies, sort of acting like a remote sump. have a on way check valve on it for when the engine is stopped. If you did that you could, in theory make the sump a lot smaller, just some random thoughts

In theory, adding total oil capacity to any engine will allow you to extend factory service intervals (reducing capacity does the opposite too) but reducing sump capacity can lead to dramas with oil starvation etc. Adding oil coolers etc adds complexity

Slice off only what you need and try to add it back at the sump, with sump 'ears' etc

boof shortened mine by 40mm and I think it may even have a bigger capacity than standard. I'll try and take some pics to show you. But what VWcool said is correct, you need the same or greater capacity of hot oil available to the engine otherwise it will wear the oil and the motor out faster.

Oil will not "wear out" but it will shorten the service life of the oil with a smaller capacity sump, which will lessen the service life of the engine if it is not replaced more frequently.:kiss Have you nearly finished yours yet Pete? How did the belt change etc. go??
