Ground Clearance
flat_iv - August 15th, 2007 at 11:52 AM

I cut 1 3/4" off a spare oil pan and I have approx. 5" of ground clearance. Still looks liike I will have to be very carefull. How much clearance does everyone else have? That 5" is based in a 74 Ghia, 2.2L and lowered 1 spline in the rear.

I have about 140mm clearance, standard sump, EJ20T in back of Fasty.

mate i dont have much more clearance with my rover in the back compare to when i had 4 pots pushing me.
Keep in mind thouth that if i do bottom out, my sump is the last thing the ground is going to hit... word of warning hey

I'd put a bit of 5mm ally plate across the bottom of the motor. it can sit up hard against the bottom of the sump. that way, if you do scrape it on something, the ally will be sacrificial. ;)

how are you mounting the engine? the engine mount could be made to come down slightly lower then the sump as protection.
