The Ultimate Subie Conversion Toy !!!
Brad - September 27th, 2007 at 09:50 PM

well for all those people out there doing Subie conversions with the EJ Series engines a great new toy is now availible. We will be conducting final testing at Warwick and then they will be availible from Custom Vee Dub.

This nifty little ECU Data Scan unit allows you to see what the ECU is seeing and easily diag problems. The unit works with both OBD1 and OBD2 and on Turbo and N/A EJ series engines.

With multifunction display and user manual even a total novice can check the health of their Subie Engine.

pete wood - September 28th, 2007 at 09:33 AM

that's awesome. might have to start saving for one of those.

Brad - September 28th, 2007 at 10:07 AM

I know some people may view this as a sales plug but I can happily say it is the best $330 you will spend on a conversion. The first time you plug it in and you can see that your air flow meter is working, your O2 sensor is working, your TPS is working, your VSS is working and you water temp is spot on to your guage you are a very happy conversion driver.

As the outputs are from the ECU you know it is seeing what you are seeing and everything is happy.

Hi

Don't be embarrassed about plugging a product if its going to be useful to the forum users. I will have to get one of these further down the track.

Steve

werl, I reckon those people can build a bridge and get over it brad. thanx for letting us know about this.

Dero - September 28th, 2007 at 05:28 PM

I think that is fairly well priced actually, just check out the price for the dash readout thingos for Aftermarket ECU's...!!! Espically the microtec ones!

Also I guess you are a sponser of the site.

What is that meant to imply?? Thanks for the info Brad...can't wait to try it out.

Dero - September 28th, 2007 at 11:11 PM

Well what I meant is that he is allowed to show us new products that are avaliable. I certainly do not have the know how to create Data Scan Readout thingy . One thing though is I have to decide on Std ECU or Aftermarket, as the Engine I just got hasnt got one, this I do relise will probably cost me more!

I hope what I said has not come accross in the wrong light.

72RSbug - September 28th, 2007 at 11:53 PM

would this also work on the twin turbo EJ engines?
I see in the pic that your unit plugs into the yellow plug, I'll have to check if my loom (still) has that.

Baja Wes - September 29th, 2007 at 11:19 PM

I want one for my V6 :)

just wondering, do the suby engines use the standard OBD diagnostic port?
if so, will this little thing work on other vehicles that have the same OBD/OBDII systems in place?

I have seen the smae sort of info out of a commodore with the factory and also the snapon scantool.

being a mechanic, if I could get a tool like this that tells me what the ECU is seeing, if it works on other vehicles, I'd snap one up.

It will work with all EJ series ECU's.

There are a few exceptions but it can be fixed.

If your ECU code isn't loaded then when you plug it in you will get an ID with a ? mark. If that happens you need to send the unit back with the number and we will add it to the unit and reload the tables.

There are heaps of ID's in there but you can never be 100% you have them all.

I would say no but can't say 100%. The only thing you can do is try it, if it don't work then send it back for a refund.

Very cool indeed. I like it.

seagull - October 28th, 2007 at 06:28 PM

I looked at buying one , as I have many rides with the factory ecu .

I did not buy one as the ( Toy ) I have runs a Power FC with hand controler , for $450.00 more than this you get the above + the tune ablity of an after market ecu .

Impackt from the RS liberty forum makes these

VWFREAK - October 28th, 2007 at 07:00 PM
