ok i need some help. im takin stuff off the jdm subaru twin turbo motor that is going in my 73 super beetle.
so the stuff i dont need on the motor or so im suppose to take off for the conversion. i have no idea what im suppose to take off.. i read smog and stuff like power steering, ac comes off.
well i want to keep the ac n hook that up on the beetle,
so far i took off the power steering and wondering the wire that connected to it, do i just leave it on the engine that wire that connected to the power steering?
also what other stuff do i need to take off?
i am keepin the twin turbos on there so stuff like solenoid box i know i need to keep but im clueless what other stuff suppose to go????
am i suppose to leave the cats on there?
i will be using the stock ecu n stock wiring, i heard im suppose to leave them on there if using stock ecu, but not sure if what im reading is true.
i know the abs, power steering, airbag crap comes off the wiring harness, but right now im wanting to know what needs to come off the engine. need help, if you know please give some tips.

Check with your local dept of transport for regulations regarding the catalytic convertors. The engine will always go harder without them though.

Yes the wire that went to the power steering pump, just leave it there disconnected, all good. It would be wise to leave the cats there otherwise you could run into legal complications if you take them off. You can always replace them with aftermarket ones if the stock ones don't suit. Apart from the engiine and all the stuff thats connected to it you will also need the solenoids as you said, all the air piping, intercooler, airbox, airflow meter, charcoal cannistor, ignitor. Thats all i can think of at the moment. Electrically you will want to keep part of the loom, ecu, relays for the fuel pump, ignition relay and maybe also the fan relays. Could also be wise to keep the fusebox as well.

good stuff there.. i'll keep that in mind.. well i live in a state where we can run straights no cats here, theres no smog checks. no inspections either. alot of muscle cars here running just headers or straights. so dont have that issue with the cats here. but with this motor , im thinkin its best to keep the cats on there.. but theres no legal issues here.

Make yourself a couple of custom dump pipes and piss those cats off. They will do nothing but restrict those gasses trying to escape...and you know the rule with turbos...the bigger the exhaust after the turbo, the better! I have the same motor in a 914, however am removing the twins and putting on a single. I also run a map sensor instead of the airflow meter, which helps with space.
