What radiator for late type 3?
type3dub - August 26th, 2008 at 11:03 AM

Howdy I,m going though with my late notch/ej22 conversion. Radiator will be up the front and some kind of scoop under or in the tyre well.

Just wondering whats a good radiator choice?

Should I use a thermo fan also?

Any other tips before i start?

Thanks Rich

stock subaru rad should work well, mine does. measure it first but i'll be surprised if it doesn't fit. you can use the stock thermos that way too, you will need them.

Do a search under my name and somewhere I have some conversion pics of my Fasty which will be the same as your notch. To fit best inside the bumper tubes I used a Hyundai Excel/S-Coupe radiator, plenty big enough. Dont get scared cause I said HYUNDAI, just buy it new not 2nd hand. They are only about $200.

My bro used a stock subi one in his Notch with thermo fans. I have a Falcon one for mine.... And you will find the opening will not need to be very large... My one and my brothers one are only 300x150mm. The air flows out the hole left by the spare wheel 'bucket'. Just make sure the spare wheel section is sealed off from the front boot area and you have some form of ducting into and out of the radiator.

PS:... We both have the intercooler radiator up front too.
