New front for my car and radiator....actually its a new shell!
boof2332 - October 28th, 2008 at 05:48 PM

Hey Guys,

This has been doing my head in for ages.....

Firstly the new shell is a canberra car and is a 74 1300. It was immaculate except for a small hit in the front. To enable more space for the radiator i welded a 56 front clip, which has the most spare wheel space of the bugs.(height and depth).

I then wanted to change the look of the aeros, so I straightened the turn up where they meet the front apron. This enables the use of rectangle spotlights or indicators...(uniroyal funcup style)

The radiator then arrived which was heaps bigger than the guy told me. (665 x460x70)I proceeded to cut away pretty much the whole clip I had welded on minus the bonnet attatchment section and two thin strips where the aeros bolt on. I then bent up a whole new front section to hold the new radiator and welded it on. Finally I bent up the little pieces that give strength to the bonnet connection.

I cannot tell you how much time I spent just sitting looking at it trying to work out fabrication/look i was after.

Nearly ready fo paint.

Here are the pics..

See how big the radiator is... 70mm thick as well.

Bit more sanding and tidying up and the front will be done.

You cannot see it that well, although I have a small naca duct that I made and welded where the vw badge goes. It allows me to still have fresh air through the dash whilst using an early bonnet.

what bike accident?

BTW, why do you need a bigger radiator?

boof2332 - October 29th, 2008 at 11:43 AM

Got taken out by a stolen car on the way home from work doing 100km/h. Big slide and a few fractures.

The little old radiator from the alfa did the job although I think it was being tested. It also had the outlets on the wrong sides and crossing them over was always untidy and a punish.

Also with possibly the 2.5 and definately more boost and definately nitrous....I figured I needed it a bit bigger. I didnt think it was that tall when I got it from ebay. $169 from a 200sx.

2.5 eh? mmm, that'll be legal...NOT

Hope you're saving up for a porsche box with that sort of power.

Same radiator I use with my 2.5, good value for $. Aftermarket 200sx alloy, also off ebay. Had no problems with mine, 2 years now I think.
