Exhaust Question
sander288 - April 1st, 2009 at 12:16 PM

Been looking through some of the set-ups alot of the focus is on cooling (granted) but I wanted to know how people are routing their exhausts, especially in a bug as I would love to change the 1300 for a subi motor

turbo or N/A?

im going thro all this crap atm
ive come to the conclusion im gonna have to build my own system up cos altho theres plenty of nice staino headers on the market at good prices to there designed for subarus so the ground clearance sux in a bug cos the engine sits alot lower

rocknrob - April 2nd, 2009 at 06:23 AM

yeah i wanted clearance too so i found some old water pipe down the backyard and welded it together...now the sump needs doing...

arent you running a cat rob?

nice ground clearance you have
with a stock subi sump in my bug at the ride height its at at the moment the sump will have about 1.5" clearance

yup no fat chicks in my fat chick

rocknrob - April 2nd, 2009 at 07:30 PM

no cat Joel...42mm equal length primaries...no power steering and no aircon...its insane the way this thing revs...

Ah, a man after my own heart

be interested to see how it goes for you as i had that exact same project in mind ;)

i thought of chucking one of my blowers on but it seems space restrictions wont allow in a bug

rocknrob - April 3rd, 2009 at 05:34 AM

if you are putting an EJ22 into a bug better not use the stock headers...they hang even lower than the sump

Richard Holzl did a great job on Barls T4 exhaust in the superbug, I was very impressed with his set up.
