New startergear?Cogs? what the name now might be

Hi I'd like too know if you know anything about new start"cogs" for a flywheel,
Badly formed question but anyways.

If you dont understand ask and I'll try to explain what I mean

your talking about the bendix to go on the flywheel, i only know about trucks where they are replaceable, i honestly dont know if you can replace them on dubs or not or if a replacement flywheel is needed

yes john sherman has his flywheels cast and then machines them and then fits the ring gear...i've seen stack of them in his little workshop

As I know it, all flywheels have this "ring gear", they are replaceable, put on by heat expanding the gear.

Yup, but some of them are not put on by heat expanding :td:
Do you know if he sells those to other ppl or can you ask him where he gets them?

You should be able to buy a ring gear from most VW shops;

Don't get confused by the ring gear which is part of the ring and pinion in the differential.

Some VW flywheels don't have a replaceable ring gear. Instead the ring gear is a machines part of the flywheel. I used one of these to make my flywheel, just machined the ring gear part off and had it fitted and welded to my flywheel.
