ej22 running on 2 cylinders??
kombibob - May 15th, 2010 at 05:59 PM

hey all,
finished the conversion now but the engine is only running on 2 cylinders.
i have changed the spark pugs and the injecters seem to be clicking but i can remove both leads from the left side with the motor running and have no change?
if i attach a plug to them it will spark up so its not the coil pack or leads.
anyone have an idea?

cheers,
bob

hey Bob, might pay to pull the timing belt covers off and make sure the cam hasnt jumped a few teeth on that side

tensioner could be abit iffy with how many years that engine has been sitting

Well it's not the coils or the Ignitor.
Coil/ignitor runs on total loss spark ie fires TDC and BTC so it runs opposite cylinders (1/3 2/4 VW notation)

Have you got the injectors wired up right on the left side? They'll be 180° out if you got it wrong ;)

after inspecting it looks like some of the inner cover has fallen off and landed between the belt making it slip about 15 teeth on that side!!!
and it was still running..haha
