Iam thinking of turning to the darkside..and converting my 72 fasty into a wrx power plant like the previous post!!...Will the 5-speed box fit aswell...sorry if this post has been done before iam still new to this!!
Yep should fit as the subie 5 speed is basically the same size as an 091 box. Happy to send you a dummy subie box with no internals if you want to mock up before making your final decision to spend the $$$
yeh that would be great..in the process of stripping my car for resto...priced up the vw 1916cc option....but leaning towards the wrx option looks
fun...iam thinking of buying a front cut subaru? would that be my best option?
just dropped the old engine and gearbox out of the the type 3 both need a rebuild so gonna go the subbie route i think...any advice welcome
Thanks for that by the way
Just checked out the website mate and I want that for my car!! do you sell the mounts? will they fit my type 3 and what price are they? haha ...not to many questions i hope
No dramas. I don't do the mounts, I want to focus on doing the tricky stuff and let shops or home mechanics do stuff like mounts - hence I have
published the plans and measurements of the type 1 mounts. I've not done a fastback one yet so these would have to be developed.
Be a good idea to purchase a front cut, that way you get everything you need. Just don't buy one with a hi/lo dual range gearbox as these can't be
reversed.

Hi Barnbro,
I don't know how the shifter works in a slit bus but there are no problems in a beetle install. If you connect the shift rod direct to the gear box
all the gears are in the right place. Hope the info helps your install

Hi Angelo, nobody has finished this conversion in a bus yet and the first one to be finished is a cable shift version. The key to getting it to work
in a bus is using the type 1 ball and socket arrangement that they have with their shifter/shift rod. This reverses the action of the vw shift rod and
makes everything shift beautifully.
I would be happy to take a look at this with your t2 with you if you are in Sydney so you know you have a bolt in conversion before you commit to the
funds for a subie box.
By the way the sharp built buggy is back in action with a new subie box (the first one is now in an ej22 beetle up the central coast). I'm told by
the sharp built buggy owner he did a nice 6000 rpm rev and dump launch today and the torsion LSD kicked in smoothly, rotated both tyres about 1
revolution and he took off down the road.
I had quite a few people ask if an LSD diff would work in a 'flipped' transaxle and it's always good to see the theory actually proving itself
true.
