OBD to OBD2 Conversion
liam66 - November 16th, 2010 at 11:04 AM

I'm keen to get a scan tool for a 94 subi motor- constant mods and tweaking will mean it'll work out cheaper just to buy the gear( dont have a check engine light)
Found some usefull and cheapish solutions for OBD2 ( 96 onwards) but nothing for the early stuff.

The Kiwi wifi gear looks pretty good ( converts OBD2 signal to WIFI, then you just get appropriate iPhone app to match.)

figured I could make that work with this;

Question is do those obd to obd2 conversion cables on ebay actually work- they make out that its just a conversion from 9 pin to 14...but a propeller head mate is telling me that it wont work due to a different baud rate or something ( he may as well have been saying that klingons were pointing phasers at the dialithium crystals)

Alternately will a patch lead to a laptop work ? with what software?
