Final drive ratios
ahoogah - January 26th, 2011 at 07:56 PM

Hey guys, looking at changing the diff ratio in an 89 T3 van,
currently running 4.83:1
Would a 3.9 be too high?

pete wood - January 27th, 2011 at 02:16 PM

probably.

you want the 4:56 that was in the 091/2 litre box.

Not if you have enough HP to push it.

just stick some bigger diameter tyres on the back:yes:

ahoogah - February 4th, 2011 at 03:00 PM

bigger tyres could work well, currently running std 185/14's
1st 12kmh (or slip start in 2nd)
2nd 25kmh

Would anyone have any larger wheels/tyres that I could borrow/try.
15"-16" 89T3.
Thanks,Dave.

Thanks Rob, falcon rims should be easy to get,do they require longer studs.
They fill the wheel well nicely and will give me the revs I am after. What sort of speed sensor do you run.
Thanks again,Dave.

You drill the steelies or get them done somewhere? If you did it, how? and if someone else did it, what sort of cost?
