Haltech experiences?
liam66 - February 18th, 2011 at 04:30 PM

Anybody got any experience with haltech ECU's on early WRX motors ?( esp. platinum 1000 sport) Good thing? stayed in tune?

I'm very unlikely to be making any changes myself, just want the car to run better and make the most out some mild mods. Standard ecu on this ( 94 EJ20 T ) cant be reflashed and the piggy back units wont help.

I know squat about WRX motors, but I've got a Platinum 1000 on the 1915 air-cooled in my bug.... sequential injection, direct fire, 1 inj and 2 plugs per cyl.

Short answer : I love it.

Long answer : I love it. A lot.

:D

No hassles at all installing it and getting it running, and at first dyno session when all tuned up got a decent power increase over the carbs. Software is pretty comprehensive, but still reasonably easy to use. Very flexible in the way it can be configured... temp correction, altitude correction and post start correction on both fuel and ignition for a start. Not sure about the "stay in tune"... I think that's more a question of the other bits in the system... condition of the injectors, fuel pumps etc.

So yeah... :tu: :tu: from me.
