compared to:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/LOW-KM-Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STI-Engine-/190525309363?pt=...
Rob, you really can't compare the two,
one has been expertly modified and hand built to produce power
the other is just a stock, factory assembled power house
exactly Dave...which would you choose? both probably put out similar HP...the VW is a wild thing drag engine garunteed to give you a woody just to
hear it...the STI...migod imagine that in your road going VW....
I'm saying they are both top of their game and by the time you fitted the STI about the same dollars
an STI in a brick? bit like feeding strawberries to a pig.
i drove my daughters mitsubishi mirage out to ayers rock for her then drove it home 2 years later....i dream about that trip in an STI beetle....speed
unlimited
I drove from Brisbane-Cairns-Darwin-Ayers-Adelaide-Melborne-Sydney in a poxy mitsy camper with a top whack of about 60... would love to do it in my
bus ..( 76 bay with ej20T)
still have nightmares of the road trains
EDI the roads out there are brilliant now but the roadtrains are faster and longer too...imagine getting past this sucker in your old aircooled
[img][/img]
Yeah it was a good nine years or so but was epic, as the front got level you'd see the road kill in the bars.... nothing like looking into a mangled
6 ft kanga's dead eyes
When we left Dawin National park the temp was 50+ an aircooled would have fried
Rod's engine an amazing bit of engineering, but it not a street engine by any stretch. And really 198rwhp from 2.4l is not a lot. Millington Diamond
2.5l (race spec YB cosworth 4) are putting out 350hp.... without a turbo.
The STi on the other hand has got A LOT more potential in it while still being very streetable.
It's apples and oranges really.
yes Pete...apples and oranges and no one needs either one...so they are both toys which are not really that expensive in the big scheme of things so
do you want a toy to run 400 meters or 4000 kilometers...actually i think the STI beetle would do both extremely well...the ultimate toy

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Wrx-Ej25-Fully-Worked-Motor-/120718958165?pt=AU_Car_Pa...
No good for any thing Rob and at 350kws its lacking any real power based on smaller motors.
Have a look at a stock V3 / V4 or GTB twin turbo motor. Then a 2.35 turbo and a 2.5 stock turbo motor
The 2.35 stroker makes more power and its smaller that the 2.7
To get big power from a subaru you need to re phase the oil holes in the crank see Michael South web page
Up for auction is a 07 Wrx STI fully worked 2.5L stroked to 2.7 with everything done!
Forged pistons
Stage 2 kit
Ported heads
Just everything you could imagine for a Wrx! motor has only done 25000kms pretty much just ran in, pushing out 220kws at all fours but that's only
because it's running a STI gearbox and vf34 turbo the motor is built by ESP in canberra and it's built to handle 350kws at all fours!! Have receipts
for motor worth $13500 alone!!! grab your self a bargain here also have heaps of other parts wrecking a 99 wagon let me know if you need anything
