Hi all
I have been looking around both here and in US and UK for info on rebuilding an eg33. I dont have one yet, just wanted to know that parts were easy to
come by. apparently not so anymore and people are now recommending the ez30. Parts seem easier and it is a newer engine etc.
What is the go here? Have any of you put one in a VW or T25. I do not want to go the turbo route. I believe they are out of Subi legacy outback and
the one i want in particular is the R version.
With this engine and gearbox combo, is it as important as i think to get the loom and matching computer bit and bobs for the conversion.
All advice gratefully received.
Thanks. Mark
the guys from AMauto that do most of the conversion guys looms on here have a kombi with a 6cyl subie in it...
infact it was an ez30 in a syncro, sounds like a good start

dont think u will find a bad word about the guys on here either
Mark, you should get the ecu, loom and engine from the same car.If the donor has an immobilizer you will need the immobilzer black box and the ign key
and barrel as well. You dont need to use the barrel mechanism, just the anteena and the key(transponder).
I did the Subaru conversion in my T25,I decided to go with a 99 ej25 after reading about to many gearbox issues with 6cyl conversions.
Scott on this forum has a er30(I think from some US Suby) in his Syncro. He has had issues with his gearbox and also availability with spare parts for
his engine.
Having said that you can still a probs with your box with a standard WBX.
I am very happy with my conversion, with the ej25 you get an increase in HP of about 80% on the wasserboxer. Its fun to overtake with speed uphills in
top.
A 3 litre conversion would be a rocketship.Dont know how good for offroad stuff though.
Good luck
