Has anyone fiddled with a Citroen GS flat 4 engine before?

I'm hoping internals can be swapped for hi performance VW, or at least i guess the over head cams could fit on a VW

something a bit different

You could try and do someThing like this, but after looking through the info I'd have to ask why? The only thing I can see is to be different which wouldn't be good enough for me. But if you really want to do it, don't let me stop you.

I have seen one of these engines in a beetle in a book
I think from the UK where these cars were common...

Where are they going to fit?

Sorry i meant doing an OHC conversion with the Citroen heads.
But i suppose there would not be much to gain, considering how much development has gone into the vw heads/engine an are all basically off the shelf items.

Yes they wouldn't fit in the engine bay....

and there is a 99% chance they wouldn't fit anyway without Major modifications...

If I remember correctly, Ferdinand Porsche designed some of these while in french captivity after WW2.

And no, I don't think there'd be any great gain in using them. For the effort, Subaru heads would be better, cheaper, have more cam options and be easier to find. Course it's all a waste really. You'd be better off swapping to a whole EJ than just using the heads. I mean it has been done, but the EJ has more crank bearings and a better block too.

Then again I spose it depends what you want.
