Does anyone know how to tell the difference between BL-BP and GC-GF?

EJ204 DOHC naturally aspirated AVCS
Legacy JDM BL - BP series
2003-2009 190 hp (140 kW)
Impreza JDM GC - GF series
1993-1999 155 hp (116 kW)

look under oil filler cap if its the orig one should have a date stamp

Wiki page on EJ engines is absolutely useless when it comes to AUDM cars.

Its all based on JDM and USDM stuff.

Wish I read this thread before, I just walked outta the Subi joint about half an hour ago.

Your engine is one of the later 2001 onwards AVCS motors with that stupid 2 stage manifold setup

Its most likely a Forester or Lib 2L engine, its not the early imp motor.

Thank you for that info will help when ordering parts... I was even trying to google images as I noticed the oil filler and dipstick are opposite to each other and most are on the same side...
