karmad - August 5th, 2012 at 04:58 AM

Hi lads im a bit confused
im changing from my ej22 motor to an ej20 2001 motor and i noticed some differences, the one im not sure about is the air induction because there is no airflow metre or iacv i can see to plug in to the induction kit off my ej22 that i was going to reuse
any pictures lads would be great

might pay if you post a picture of your ej20 as I thought they all had AFMs. Mine does. Check out the tampico race car thread about page 3 I think I posted some photos of my intake there.

Cheers for getting back to me lou ,thats some car you have . my last engine was an ej22 and the air intake was done like this http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa412/karmad76/MOTOR_1.jpg

on my ej20 the 3 blue pipes are the same but the pink pipe that goes from the iacv to the intake im not sure about beause i cant find it to connect it
or does the ej20 only have the 3 blue pipes

regarding the maf im sure i need one now can i use the one from my ej22 engine?

If you're trying to run a 2001 EJ20 with EJ22 electrics you have created a monster for yourself.

The 1999 and earlier SOHC stuff is compatible but the 2000 onwards is different, some of them are Map based so no air flow meter, the sensors are all different and the heads have a different manifold pattern.
Have you still got the old EJ22? easiest thing would be put the 22 heads on and keep all the 22 intake manifolds and electrics, same as I did with my new 25, or get the loom and computer for the later EJ20.

the IACV is on the throttle body with some of those later ones.

Cheers joel, no i sent off the ej20 loom to be redone
it looks like the iacv is on the throttle body so that means i only have 3 pipes to go onto connect to the intake then? how do i find out if my engine doesn't need an airflow metre on the intake?
sorry about all the stupid questions Joel:blush:

i sent you an email a few days ago ,did you get it?
