just wondering what you think. my ej20 has a map sensor and iacv on the air intake manifold, so no need for Maf sensor on the air filter.
Do you think i would have any problems if i mount the k&n close to the throttle body instead of having a bendy pipe?
SORRY ABOUT PICTURE CLARITY
may work, but wont pass rta/BLUE SLIP inspection in NSW.
Ian.mezz, cant you let me know what is the requirement in nsw for this type of filter. does it need the bendy pipe or is the filter not legal etc. anti pollution? just wondering.
Hi
Open air filters are not allowed in NSW and other states I think, K&N make these ones which are legal http://www.knfilters.com/universal/apollo.htm
Steve
Don't quote me on it, but I think that may only apply if the car had a factory air box in the first place.
My engineer had no dramas with mine running a pod as long as it was secured and many older cars had open paper element filters.
First up, are you opening up your firewall to get that to fit? Secondly, the pipe between the MAF sensor and the throttle body has job too and it's
tuned for that motor. I'd think about using it anyway. Julian Edgar did a stack of testing about 10years back and found that atmo motors made LESS
power with that sort of setup. A tuned pipe to proper airbox/filter with a cold feed to it is much better. Thirdly, that's gonna be a bitch to remove
and replace when it needs cleaning.
But aside of that, yeah, I guess so.
What do you think?
Better, but if you can get the pod into a semi sealed box with a big cold air feed it'll work even better still.
