hey guys and girls
am making baja and want to know what do we use on the bonnet edge to stop the glass cutting each other .a edge strip of some sort ??? and have
finished and installed the lift kit and notice the large gap where the engine/fire wall seal is to go what do we use there to stop the water going
into the rear of motor
You can use grey foam which is adhesive on one side for the bonnet ....
My Son saw the "mexican type" bonnet seal I used on My Beetle and asked My where I bought it from... it just clips onto the bonnet edge.... its
black and is shaped like a "U" .. a similar product was used on cars in the 60 & 70s around the inside door opening... the foam strips in
different widths etc from Clark Rubber shops that sell foam etc..
The "mexican bonnet edging" came from Vintage Vee Dubs in Sydney..
Do You have the fiberglass rear bit that fits over the engine?
Because the engine compartment is not sealed .. it really doesn't need anything... although the normal engine seal is used on the sides and the rear
one across the flywheel housing....
regards
Lee
on a baja you don't want a seal at the rear of the motor. You should completely remove that section of body. You should be left with the smooth curve
of the firewall / luggage compartment.
On the bonnet I glued some hollow rubber boot seal (from clarks rubber). I glued it to the body. There is no edge strip on my bonnet.
