do torsion bars go soft?????? i just rotated my rear spring plates down 1 inner spline and it raised the rear up heaps...... but after 1 trip down the coast and slight foray off road on the trip home the bars have settled back to where they were. About a quarter inch off the stops. I'm a bit mistified as it has coil overs on the back too but has still sagged, any ideas?
I know what you mean, that is just settling. Winding it up more again this time might help, say 2 splines this time.
but it sounds like you might need some stiffer ones like type three ones.
just out of curiosity does anybody know the difference in diameter between beetle irs torsion bars and type tree ones??????? and is it true that square back ones are the biggest?
yep,
beetles are 19mm
normal type 3 is 22mm,
squareback is 24mm.
got some 22mm if anyone is interested, $30. U2u me
i,ve got 29mm sway a way ones
what are they worth out of interest?
I heard they have special spines that don't fit standard pans is that true?
depends on which ones you order........................sway a way have 22- 30mm bars for beetles for around $450 a pair.
we have them for $360 (26mm)
150 for mine hehehe
they fit stock pans
