From what I have heard from a guy who is a consultant for the Australia wide changes it will be a stop on kit cars registered as modified production.

They want to push them towards being ICVs.

which means more regulations to adhere to, hey.

so preexisting or current rego'd vehicles should be ok?

No

I think pre-existing rego will only help if you also have the original Engineering Reports and all the chassis no's etc line up..

Not sure about the QLD plated ones, but I am guessing that paperwork would still be needed.

So is this just in NSW or will it be applicable to all states?

Check out this site, its all about ICVs and rebodied vehicles in Australia.

http://www.sharpbuilt.com.au/dunebug.htm

Its been updated and typed by Mike Sharp, owner of Sharp Built Australia, a large manufacturer of buggies and beetle floorpans etc.

Sharpbuilt have moved into larger premises so now we can offer the following Dune Buggy service's.

Complete restoration including body, chassis, running gear, bar work and all custom needs for your buggy. So if you need some fiber glass body work done or the rear end changed from swing axle to IRS or a complete custom ground up rebuild Sharpbuilt can now service this type of work.

Its a great company, and bloody cheap too.

Got a quote for a rolling floorpan ($6800 or so), and an extra $450 got me an extra type 4 engine with porsche style cooling kit, exhaust and extractors. (Thats bloody cheap! However, I am yet to recieve a reply confirming this incredible quote i got last week)

And when you reach that site, click on "Rego Information" on the left menu bar.

mynameischris88,
I saw your other post here http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=22489&page=2

So you have actually spoken to Mike and he has confirmed that there will be no problems registering rebodied vehicles in the near future?
