Hi, guys. I've just aquired a JNS buggy complete but disassembled. The floorpan has been shortened 14.5 inches to suit the body. I'll be doing a IRS
swap and discs allround eventually, but for now I just want to get it on the road.
Our engineer ( we have a 4wd modification parts business in Sydney) won't touch the shortened chassis. The ICV thing won't happen... Whats the way
around? can they be registered in QLD? or do I have to buy a previously regoed pan? Any help would be great.
Do you have old rego papers for the vehicle? If it has been previously registerd in NSW, you should be okay... Otherwise, I'm sure plenty of people on here will help with advice etc
It's never been registered as a buggy. The old rego was apparently for a white beetle. It's been in storage for at least 20 years.
Ok, Relax, here is the number and name of an engineer who will ok it. He will probably ask you to stiffen the chassis in some way but he is on the
level and good to talk to. He let me do all sorts of things to my buggy and then ok'ed it, so as long as your's is not too extreme you should be
fine. Complying with ADRs is the key to keeping him happy.
His only weakness is that he is slow to do things and sometimes unreliable in getting to places on time, you just have to keep at him. There's your
warning,
Roger Perkins 9679 1621, 0412 414 722. He's in Annangrove just past where Amaroo used to be.
Alternatively, there's a guy in Newcastle that does a lot of older buggies for some other guys on the Forum. He is good too from what i have heard
but can get a bit finicky about little things like sunvisors, Roger never hassled me about them.
I too have a J&S. You can see what I did to it if you click on the geocities link at the bottom of this post.

He's passed some pretty wild stuff for us where others haven't even been bothered to look and see it's built properly. He's passed my Suzuki with
14 inches of lift, 20 inch wider, 8 inch wheel base stretch, danas etc etc but point blank wont discuss the buggy!
Roger Perkins seems pretty good though- I'll have to put a full cage in it with intrusion bars and use the cage as a windscreen frame.
Build will be in 2 stages- initially fix up the body, link front, swing axle rear and 1500 motor. After it's regoed we'll get it re engineered with
strut front, IRS kombi rear and subaru turbo donk.
