Here are some pics and details of Mike Sharps new chassis/suspension.

Rear arms are stock but boxed in and triple shock mounts added to them (total 10''
of travel )

Top of the rear shocks bolt to a new made shock tower that also has a pipe
attached to it that runs the full
length of the buggy from the front beam to the back plate of the rollbar
with attachment points along the way.

They can bend I think.

Can't quite read the brand of shocks.. Anyone know what brand they are?

Ohh, this thing is unreal, he even got to use most of that 10" travel the other day as well.

Got any more pics of those rear arms? They dont look like the standard arms, but aftermarket ones.

WABaja - April 5th, 2005 at 01:03 AM

Word of warning... Those rear shocks are mounted the exact same way as mine, and Both have ripped the bottom bolt out through the eyelette...!!!
At Least put a Big flat washer behind the head of the bolt to avoid the lower mounts letting go of the shocks, or better still, modify the mounts so that they hold the bolt on both sides, (as I hope to do in the near future)...

How so? Was he down at Stockton or something?

J&SBlue - April 5th, 2005 at 09:33 AM

Mike made it to Stockton by lunchtime on Saturday. He only got the buggy going, after putting the new chassis in, at 6:15 the night before.

Mike says the rear arms are stock but have been boxed in for extra strength.

They either do (in which case the arms will need reinforcing)

Or they don't (in which case boxing is a waste of time and weight)

Yes stock type 1 arms bend without boxing.
nice buggy

ROTORBUG - April 11th, 2005 at 06:20 PM

Nice work!
Just wondering if the front shock towers flex at all?
Are they braced at the tops or are the gussets enough to keep them stiff?

Dont really know Rotorbug. This is Mike Sharps buggy and he has just finished this chassis. I guess time will tell to see if it has any problems. I am guessing he has tried to make it so there is no flex.

Mark.
