Buggy friendly engineers in Newcastle?
Secoh - April 4th, 2005 at 05:31 PM

I have my new buggy home now and the oil leak is sorted. Looking at the rego papers it's still regoed as a beetle, but has obviously been a buggy for at least a decade or two, well before it was necessary to engineer them. I would like to see if I can get the paperwork sorted out properly in case I get hassled by the RTA. My biggest concern is it's due for rego next month.

Any advice? "Don't Bother" isn't going to be helpful :P

What is the weight on the rego papers ?

740
Don't think it's right for a '68 (which it's regoed as) as my '68 baja is 800 even and I took it over the weighbridge myself. The chassis number matches the rego papers and everything though.

mmmm. Mine is rego'ed as a Beetle but has the weight changed to 540Kg when it was rego'd as a buggy. Sounds like someone has just changed the car to a buggy and left the rego as is.

Manx_xtc might be able to help you.

Mark.

I remember that at one stage the RTA would not recognise buggies as anything other than beetles with a different weight.
I might weigh bridge it and get the weight changed at the RTA. Anyone know if Athol Mullen does buggies? He has had good info in the past on other engineering matters.

Hi Jim, in Newcastle you pretty much have to go with Athol, he did mine and just about everyone i've talked to from Newcastle. Word is that the other Engineers don't like buggies.
