Thats the kick ass buggy i saw at klubfest. It was the must beastiest offroad buggy there. It was mad.

How much did that whole buggy cost get get transformed into that beefy, high stance buggy?
very nice.

Heres a pic from klubfest where i saw it:

I thought the engine looked a bit different than usual :D

Brad - June 19th, 2005 at 09:55 PM

Cost - Can't really say. You would need to talk to Troy about that.

It is the toughet buggy I have ever worked on ..

Dub-Buggier - June 20th, 2005 at 07:29 AM

good job on the buggy, interesting that he opted for an auto,... was it so that it could handle the extra grunt?

cheers
dub

Andy42 - June 20th, 2005 at 08:01 AM

its not an auto. it has a kombi box. 2L version I think. i am hanging to get mine goind to see if it goes as well as this one. I think it should be a good day seeing which one can get the furtherest in different situations and in the end I do not care as long as somone will be getting some video of all the mayhem ;)

Brad - June 20th, 2005 at 08:59 AM

Well Hill number two on teh test track has stopped all that have attempted it so far.

Hilux - Turbo Diesel, twin lockers, lift kit, mud tyres blah blah blah .... couldn't get up

Troys Buggy - Mazda V6, custom stuff all over the place .. couldn't get up, although he didn't actually try to get up we were just trying to shoot some roost.

So ANdy maybe yours is the one, I think so ....... Turbo + locker + nutter = success or at least good footage.

Best part is the greenies can't close the test track .....

MUD BASHING ANYONE ?? - June 20th, 2005 at 07:21 PM

You sure???

Andy - June 20th, 2005 at 08:44 PM

That piece of piss hill has been tried and failed by many kick-ass 4WD's as Mr Brad mentioned, and not to mention numerous big bad VW's of all forms.
If you want to show us all how easily you can do it, join the Manx club and go along to the next fun filled testing day.
Good luck :thumb

So when is the next test session? I'd be keen to check this out.
Graham

Brad - June 20th, 2005 at 09:02 PM

The hill is in my yard.. I have with me a nice cold carton of VB and I will happily bet it that you will not get up the Hill in say 3 goes. If you do you take the VB, if you don't you double it ... Yep is you are so cocky then you will have no problems getting up my piss week hill if you fail you loos 2 x cartons of VB and post on here how pissy your VW powered baja is ......

So you up to it ??

STill waiting for our Kombi drag race too .....

MickH - June 20th, 2005 at 09:06 PM

Your wife will have a lot of beer Brad....:thumb

You mustn't have seen much film of your own car then.

I have been in the twin locker mud tyred turbo diesel hilux going up those hills. The first hill is steep and very soft and nothing to be laughed at.

The second hill has a couple of ledges which have been unpassable thus far, and I'm sure you could easily roll a buggy trying. We hit it at high speed in the hilux, took out a couple of small trees and dug some big ruts, but it didn't make it.

You better build something very tough if you don't want to be eating your words.

Brad - June 20th, 2005 at 09:33 PM

he will be eating ..... no $500 baja going up that hill ......

handycam - June 20th, 2005 at 10:15 PM

very nice buggy

Andy42 - June 21st, 2005 at 11:44 AM

Hey brad can I come to the BBQ when you get your free beer, as you will not get a chance to drink it as you will be to bussy trying to skull drag the broke Baja out of your property. No wonder people call them BA HA with attitudes like that. Just as well some people like Wes actually know how to build a real one.

pete wood - June 21st, 2005 at 11:53 AM

I think the first post said it all...

Anyone can open their mouth, but he hasn't even got a car to back it up with.

Great buggy guys, awesome to see someone who actually owns one driving theirs hard.

Baja Wes - June 21st, 2005 at 01:11 PM

If I can just get some more KLZE V6 powered Baja's and Buggies out there I might have to start making upgrade parts for them.

It's also good having a second car testing my adaptor / flywheel design.

11CAB - June 21st, 2005 at 01:16 PM

Is that the one that was going in Brad's Mega Manx? Is that car still around?

Doug Sweetman - June 21st, 2005 at 01:19 PM

bah ! works net nanny wont let me see the site.... bugger.

Boozer - June 21st, 2005 at 01:54 PM

that's a pretty decent hill there! nice vid too. Don't want to be picky but with that manx, I wouldn't wanna take a good hit on that front bumper like a stump or something. It looks to me like it would kill the radiator. Was that the best place for it? Just wondering that's all. Very though manx though.

Brad - June 21st, 2005 at 02:58 PM

Radiator is well protected. Of you hit something hard enough to hurt it you wouldn't be real happy.

Protection is made from 5mm checker, 40 NB Tube with 3mm wall ....

By the Way .. you need to know Mud Bashing to understand him .. be nice I am ure he will take up my bet and drive strigt up the hill ...

Boozer - June 21st, 2005 at 03:15 PM

cool, just wondering. Now that i had a good look at some photos. it IS well supported, tied into everything.

Andy42 - June 21st, 2005 at 03:47 PM

Mate I have seen this thing and the bar work is excelent and well designed. It is more like a tube frame buggy with a fiberglass body on it. Next time ya see it at a show or somewhere take the time to check out how everything is tied in together and you will see what I meen. i gotta say it is one buggy which is a credit to all the people who helped build it.

11CAB - June 21st, 2005 at 05:32 PM

"By the Way .. you need to know Mud Bashing to understand him .. be nice I am ure he will take up my bet and drive strigt up the hill ... "

I've been with Tim in his Baja at Ormeau....he's a nutter behind the wheel, and I'm sure he'd give anything a go just for the hell of it, or because you guys said he couldn't....LOL
Just let me know when its on so I can watch.

MUD BASHING ANYONE ?? - June 21st, 2005 at 07:01 PM

I must have pissed some people off sorry for that but just to clear a few things up i am in the manx club and the only run they have had since i have been in the club i went on i almost fell asleep at the wheel and i have tryed till i almost died to get anyone to come out with me the only people that took there skirts off were kurt from volksmod andrew with the tow'd and terry from custom offroad 3 people in over a year, all anyone had to do was ring me and i would be there and ready to go in half an hour any weekend or any afternoon. So unless that hill got like 10 times worst that carton of bbq cleaner is as goos as mine and why is it that soon as i sell my car people start coming up with challenges like these anyone that knows me will tell you that i thrive on a challenge so wait till i get my car up and running and start making challenges im getting thirsty omce agian sorry for pissing anyone off did not mean to.
Anyway the 2 cartoon baja has been sold but im thinking of getting another just for things like this cause that thing has out performed many so called big bad 4wd's and big bad vw's remember expensive don't mean go's further.

Also graham there is the passanger seat spare if you want to come up the hill with me

MUD BASHING ANYONE ?? - June 21st, 2005 at 07:38 PM

Just help me out here i have watched the film many times over and if you get over the crest of where troy stopped is that it? or does it get exciting after that cause all that i can see on that vid anit that hard at all maybe im just mad maybe you guys should come out with me (when i get my car going) and ill prove to you all that spending 20 grand don't mean shit its all in the way you build them and drive em
