That's it! I've now come to the conclusion that my baja has ADD. This is because lately we've been getting stuck into my sister's street bug and my sister's been driving my baja while i've been driving the kombi. My baja must be jealous of not getting any more attention so a week ago it started leaking gear oil out of the drivers wheel hub. Fixed that and all was cool. A week before that we rebuilt the frontend properly as somebody was too lasy to grease it???When we went to do a wheel alignment we noticed that the whole front end was loose! Also Dad built a gearbox brace to stop it moving and breaking engine mounts. Sweet Now yesterday my sister drives up and says there's a weird noise, turns out the nut on the fan had come loose (3 more turns and it was off!) and the fan was rubbing on the fanshroud. Fixed that. Then I noticed that there was oil leaking out the the drivers rear hub again. SHIT! It just doesn't stay fixed.

latest bad news is that it's now popping out in 4th badly. Yay. Time for a new gearbox.

Sounds like you should hurry up and get your new one going before this one falls apart Blues Brothers style.

yes it is forty years old but everything had been recond or new and it's just one unrelated thing breaking after another. My sister is not thrashing it, i'm not and haven't thrashed it. it's just really annoying.
