Just got back from my first test run in the Geko Buggy - Now fully road legal.

This one only has a 1600 TP and beetle box in it. Soom this will be changed to an EJ22 and 2L Kombi Transmission.

Carrying capacity is up to 1000kg with type 3 torsion bars.

More will follow when I get back from the beach trip ...

Got any more pics? Looks really good from the front, how did you do the body?

Don't want to say to much at this stage as I am still testing a few features which may change things. It has an opening boot, front storage, 60L fuel tank and as you may see in the pics a custom one of a kind ply roof .... yep it seems my trimmer decided to goto Fraser instead of making me a soft top... damn you with think with 1 days notice he would have put his holiday on hold.

Sure there will be plenty more pics after sunday ..

interesting, I guess it's a bit more labour intensive than a Manx. Really good idea though, have you got any interest from companies who might want a few?

Any reason why you lopped it off at the front and didnt extend the body a little further like this?

wait, was just thinking in the shower, having that hard top fastened down, & by lopping the body off at the front rather than extending it, it would make it a million times more practical for easy access.

Having the body extend past the seats would mean you would have to crawl in and out while worrying about hitting you head on the naked hard edge of the roof (more painful then your typical buggy fibreglass curved-edge hardtop). Be particularly more difficult (especially when hopping in) if it did have the side.

But besides the pain and 'less practicality', i do like the finish of the sides going across. yet again, i like the practicality and easy access of the buggy in the original pic, the rear tray would give way more storage capacity for your offroad camping trips :P

Cool ... I didn't think it was too cool when it got flooded on the way home and we ended up stuck on the side of the highway trying to dry plug leads in a torrential down poor ... damn it rained a lot ..

Oh well the drain holes worked well, water on the floor never got over 1" deep .. pity the same can not be said for the water on the seats.

I thought i might go for a lil' play and tinker tonight, and here is what i threw up in an 2hrs:

hey buggy brad, if i wanted a gecko buggy kit to look like that, think you be able to customise it to look like that and make me one?

excluding the airbrush flames. (will do style myself if i did go withit, and whip up somehting more schnazzy)

we can customise anything .. but you need to have $$$ to make it happen and somehow i don't think anyone is going to give me a GS Limo body to cut up and make a ute out of.

Well it is good to see that finally it looks like the ute is going to get on the road.It has only taken nearly ten years of planning. Are you still looking around the $10 000-$15000 for on

yeah it has been a while and it has been through some development ..... oh well it is all good now, still some issues to fix.

Cost have no idea, but hey I don't think I will be selling too many of them anyway ..

is the back suspension on the Gecko full height? It looks a bit bum down in the pics. BTW, how much does the rear end sag with 1000kgs on it? I would have thought the type 3 bars wouldn't be quite up to that sort of load.

I really like the wheels...finally someone has made some 5 spoke wheels in the 4 stud pattern....seriously tired of only seeing white 8 spokes on all the buggies with late running gear

just so no one gets bent out of shape ... it is as ugly as ugly can be ... In fact the number plates it will soon wear are :

02WUB or No 2 Worlds Ugliest Buggy - why number 2 you ask, well when you look at what else is being built there are some very ugly buggies out there and one in particular that kick its ass.

It really is a buggy that only a mother could love.

The rear end will soon sit level, it sagged a lot when I put the 5mm checker plate deck on it and moved the 65 L fuel tank to the rear.It will come up about 3 inches

Wheels are very cool, in fact will have a few more sets here very soon :>

Dont give it a complex now will you.....poor car....Doesn't look that bad,people will get used to seeing it around and everyone will be happy:beer

I just love the walk through.... no climbing over the sides
