Brad's Backyard Buggy Bash and BBQ - 19 Nov 06 - Pics Now Added ...
Brad - January 15th, 2006 at 08:03 PM

Like all great events they all need to start somewhere. Well this year will be the first off for a new annual event which will be Brad's Backyard Buggy Bash and BBQ.

The day will begin at Custom Offroad t 9.00 where all those wishing to compete will need to get there vehicle inspected. This inspection is to cover general vehicle safety and make sure no one is driving an absolute craper as there is enough of them in my yard already. It is also a great opportunity for Buggy Owners to get a free safety inspection and some feedback from guys who work on Buggies all week long.

Then at High noon we will cruise out to Brad's place where the fun will begin. We have three tracks to play on and some other events such as barrel racing , grass drags, gravity challenge, spud spearing etc . A trophy will be awarded to the person who has the most points after the events. This trophy which has been sponsored by several of the local VW businesses ( TBC at closer to the event ) will be awarded annually to the best buggy / baja handler.

After a few hours of fun and enjoyment we will head to the BBQ / Fire place to tell each other how good we all where and enjoy some good quality Manx Club hospitality.

Day is open to all people although only Manx Club Members are allowed to drive the tracks. BUT you can join on the day.

C'mon you know you all want to hack my grass up and prove you can get up the little ity bity hill ...

Buggy On !!

EDIT - more details here http://www.manxclub.org/TripReport.asp?EventID=41

EDIT - Date changed due to conflict with GC VW show. Now on the 19th November

I have two slashers, want to buy one ?? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4605305175&ssPageName=A...

I need them to keep the grass down low enough so I don't loose to many VW's in there.

When you say, "nothing exiting", are you referring to when you got stuck in the tree and had to get cut out. That's what I'd call no "exiting". :D

OZ Towdster - January 19th, 2006 at 06:23 PM

Terry's just scared that my old type 1 swinger Manx is going to have to pull him out of the shit again heheheheheheheh Oh didn't he mention that bit on here last time he went up that hill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess in your own twisted way you've summed up the majority of car club events.

Dyno Day - oh look your cars outta tune, give me $$$ to tune it
Track Day - you cars not fast enough give me $$$ to make it faster.
Show and Shine - your cars not the prettiest give me $$$ to make it prettier.

The Manx club is an offroad club, offroad locations close to Brisbane are few and far between. Brad has acreage close to Brisbane so he's offered it for an afternoon of offroad fun.

In todays legal climate where if someone trips over your letterbox you can be sued I don't blame Brad for only wanting drivers that are in a club with insurance driving in his yard. And he's covering his arse by doing a quick safety check on cars.

The way I see it is this.
Manx Club members get to throw their car up on a hoist and have a good look underneath with some expert eyes and I don't mean brads I mean other club members as well. It's amazing how many suggestions you get when your car is on a hoist.

Manxclub members then get to go offroading at a location close to Brisbane with the offer of a friendly BBQ, Beer and a chat after-woods.

I offer you to come for the day and watch the fun and festivities. Pass judgement then.

$2.63 homebrand baja - January 20th, 2006 at 10:54 AM

I asked festy if he was interested in attending playgroup.. he promptly flicked a fan belt at me, chucked a hubcap across the lawn and said he'd think about it and he wanted new shoes first because he is all embarassed at being a big old neglecteroonie with shagpile lining :sniffle: ;) :ninja:

(dirty little baja, I think he just likes to watch :puke )

OZ Towdster - January 20th, 2006 at 05:34 PM

being a bossy keeper isn't the problem, festy loves a good beating, it's more the spineless little wussbag donk which seems to chuck a hissy fit if the hill is bigger than a speedbump or the ground is hot and squishy under his poor little pansy feet. Grrr, I thought he was doin ok........ till I started riding around in other peoples toys...

*sigh*

You know how it is, most of you have reached the point of no return.. I have outgrown the motor, I NEED MORE POWER.. grrrrrbrooombroompooooobum1600TP(T:total P:poo)! I'll just find a nice flat bit in an out of the way corner to do some donuts with my baldy tyres being the speshul person I am :sandrine
