If anyone is interested, we are taking the Kombi up to Double Island Point & Rainbow Beach for a day trip.
SplittyChick & PurpleT3 are coming up for Dubs by the Pub, so we thought we'd take them on a trip up the beach as well.
There won't be any serious Offroad stuff, just stopping to do the tourist thing like Red Canyon, the Lighthouse & Rainbow Beach for lunch.
Anyone with an Offroad VW is welcome, the more the merrier.
I'll have some times posted in a day or two.

Hey are you still on for Saturday as I may be taking a trip up there myself if my wife lets me out on my own!!!!

By the way just checked the tide times for Saturday -high tide is at 1043 and low is at 1702 so an afternoon drive would be the order of the day

Hi Barry, yeah I'm still planning on going up on Saturday, I've got most of the gearbox completed tonight, so hopefully I might get it into the car tommorrow or Wednesday.....
I'm planning on getting up there 6-7am and cruising up the Rainbow Beach then have lunch and maybe a swim on the calm side of Double Island Point and then head back in the afternoon.
Would be good to see you up there

Well we had a blast....I let the rear tyres down to 14psi, but the sand at the first cutting was real soft & dry, and I didnt really give it enough and got stuck, so after letting the tyres down to bugger all and a little push from from the passengers we were on our way again. We were too close to high tide on the trip up, so constantly slogging through the soft sand, but we did pass a few bogged 4wd's, and the guy in the bogged Pajero just off the boards on the Rainbow side wasnt impressed to see us drive straight past him in the Kombi...LOL
