hey all im up to the point of installing tie rods and new tie rod ends on my buggy just a thought is there a heavy duty part that u can buy cause with alot of abuse tie rods seem to be the first thing to break and if there is a heavy duty part that people recomend it seems logical to me that i buy that instead of standard ones

I've never seen a ball joint tie rod end break.

The heavy duty ones take some careful and delicate mods to work, as you need to machine a new bigger taper into the steering arms on the spindles.

I have seen plenty of tie rods bend (bent one myself and dented the bottom of the fuel tank in the process). The easy fix for this problem is to just put a cut up old sway bar down the middle of the long tie rod.

the only time I've seen one break is when my brother smashed into the gutter in his Baja. Actually it was the king pin that broke, not the tie rod end!
