have a look at all the rubber hoses and vent tubes, and maybe carbies. don't ignore it.
what car? what year? there are some known areas where these problems typically occur on some models.
check the cap/bolt on the front left hand side of the tank the washer maybe U.S.
or even the gasket for the sender unit
normally if fuel is leaking you will end up with a brownish stain on metal surfaces, if it is not the obvious wetness

yeah it's defenatly leaking from the cap when i turn left. it stained the paint job. it's a 1969 1500.
get a new cap gasket:thumb
yeah i'll do that but it does seem that the one i have is pretty tight
just off topic what can i do about the engine noise?
