my long tie rod contacts the tunnel on full droop of ym front susupension now with the cut and turned beam in there.
so i just want to tap a bit of a dent into the tunnel so it wont touch.
what do u guys think of this method?
can i just take the long tie rod off and the fuel tank out and do this?
Nicko
generally, If you cut the tunnel along the same angle as the tie rod, and weld in a half a peice of pipe, this should work.
Ill try to get a picture to explain better
.
hmm thats gonna be a big job, i cant weld
Its a double panel there......will take a bloody big hammer to make a dent
do it properly man
it doesnt take that long find some one to weld it in for you
If you are successful in making a dent you may end up distorting the shape of the frame head which may put your beam out of alignment. I think welding it is the only way to go.
Cut and weld in the car drive in / drive out $275 as a guide to how much of a job it is. Only possible extra is some new fuel line and a tie rod end
or two, leading to a wheel alignment.
To bash the frame head you are going to have to pull the tank and everything anyway.
Tie rod hitting the frame head will give you bump steer and break your tie rod end over time.
do it properly.
the last thing you want to happen when your up the beach is your tie rod end to snap off and then have to trailer it home.
