Hi.
I'm stuck in a dilemma where i'm not sure as to whether i want to go nuts and fab sumfin up as bump stops for my front end.
Its been cut and raised, and i read somewhere that by not having bump stops and if you hopin along, as the wheels drop down it puts alot of stress
leading to premature wear of your shockies...
Should i be concerned?
Whats the quickest neatest solution? Is there a need for it?
Can i get a decent shock absorber with some form of built in stopper?
regards,
Chris.
yeah, topping out your shockes is bad news. The old hook and rod set up is cheap easy and works.
this is what happens if they top out too many times
FAR OUT!
would hate to spend a great big dollar on some good shocks to have em rip themselves out....
I read somewhere that a company made these straps that were removable and hook up at hte top of the shock tower and clip on the bottom off the torsion
arm of sumfin....
I dunno wats out there, but hooks sounds good. I just hope they don't fall off lol. if i can bend em, i hope the force of the wheel/brakes weight
doesn't knock em down....
try some old-school seatbelts from the wreckers as limiting straps
do you have the jeff hibbards book chris? if not then buy it. it explains all this.

like Anthiron said, must have reading if you own a baja
you can knock some limiting straps up out off seat belt material and stich in some elastic so it contracts just like your old fella on a cold day.
attach the strap double over to the shock mounts behind the shock not the nut ( less chance of snapping the bolt)
then get some "O" rings that fit over the strap and shock that will stop the strap from getting to far away from the shock when compressed.
its not the ideal way to do things but it will work and you can get it all from Clark Rubber.
rubber bands will last about 3 seconds in off-road
thanks guys for all participating in the discussion. i will muck with some seatbelts, and see what i can mock up.
I assume the length i want is an obvious tad whisker smaller than the shocks full extension.
btw i do have jeff hibbards baja book burried sumwhere under teh vw rubble lol. Its been my bible with the front beam so far, brilliant text. i should
go find it and stop annoying you guys haha
