Finished this off this arvo, yep non VW but air cooled and does have a Karman Ghia working tail light (thanks to empi)
All my custom pushies have always had nice paint jobs so I wanted something that I didn't have to look after the paint and was practical.
Love Rat Rods so went along with that theme, buffed off all the paint and just let the ocean that surronds me do her job, even during the
build a nice rusty patina started to appeared.
Here is a sketch and the main parts of the frame before assembly.
The bike and the dog shot and as I said she has to be practical so rear mike crate cut down as a freight box and surf board rack.
That's my Micheal Peterson shaped Shane surfboard, MP sadly died this year, a legend with a cult following in the Australian surfing world.
Bit of detail on the beast, rigged up my Riemann Piccolo light, but scared it may get stolen so made up another light.
Used a modded rear axel stand, bent a loop in it to make it shorter.
Nice chain guard, the shifter lever is a piano pedal with a small piston mounted at one end, have made it so it can swivel around the pipe
it's mounted to so you can have the piston up on the left hand side, why, just because I can!
Have been riding this baby a bit of late, people love her, best comment "when are you going to finish it".
She is finished she's a Rat! Added a bit used part of a de-railier to take some slack out of the chain, works well.
Also a bit of $2.00 shop Ratty detail, bit corny yep but gives a bit of a hint for the non rat believers.
Changed the tail light as well, that is a 60's VW Karman Ghia rear light with a cheapy torch mounted up inside. (Thanks again empi works well aye)
It was a cracking day out in the South Pacific today warm with light winds, great beach day!
WICKED
Very nice indeed
Good work Pete.
I know with those photos, you are just trying to tease me of where you live
I have been talking to my old man and am trying to plan a holiday back to LH, its been over 30 years since I've been there.
