What do you think of the "Rat" Look?

I'm interested to see what sort of support we have for cars that normally wouldn't see the light of any normal car show.

Let's hear your thoughts.

done well, the rat look can be seriously cool. done badly (enter my rustingbarelymadeitthrurego look) it can just look neglected. I'm not sure how to get the rust to stay as a surface finish rather than an evil, nasty, malignant tautological spreading car disease that gradually eats away your pride and joy. maybe overcoat it with a matt clear coat..?

I love it! I might end up with one of the only "rat baja's" i've ever seen! That would be cool!:D:thumb

I love the look...it's very sweet!!!

We're starting to see them at our shows now which is excellent:thumb

I don't believe it's a cheap alternative to restoration, well for some, but a definite style choice.....

Love the rat!! The split bug in the latest UltraVW has got to be one of the coolest ever!! Also love the Linde Splitty panel van. Iwould have liked to rat the square, but my wife wouldn't rate it!! (under the thumb??)

The rat look is a great look only if done properly. Its not just a case of pulling out an old car and lowering it then driving it.

Its all about having the peroformace underpinnigs with a shit box look of an old car with a nice set of rims

Done as a style and not excuse I like it.

I know alot of people goto extreme lengths to find an immaculately sunburnt car, that is solid as a rock to get the basis for their ratter. They then overhaul the running gear to make it driveable and safe, then goto even more extreme lengths to get a perfect original interior to match the rest of the car. Not to mention finding other original worn parts in top nick and transferring them across must be a nightmare!
IMHO, THAT'S a show car!!! And well worthy of being dubbed a "look"

However, the look is whatever you make it. As long as you've put in the love, time and effort to get it that way.
