none, if you don't run shocks.

If yr fitting the beam to a pre 67 car then you will have to reduce the width of the shock towers or do some body work to the inner guards to make it fit reducing the shock towers will result in less body work.

Make sure you dont reduce the width or the fuel tak opening or the tank wont fit in.

I fitted a 1 in narrower beam the other day to my 65 and had to knock the inner guards in slightly It has stock shock towers

Any other info?
I'm also interested in this, but on a '68.

On a 68 on or Ball joint front end you have a lot more clearance as the shock towers are angled out wards so you will only have the very lower section of the inner guard to grind away or massage with a large hammer

what else do u need to know ??

The beam on my 68 ball joint is narrowed 3.5 inches. Slightly massaged inner guard to fit it. Put some 4.5" Fuchs on it. I think it looks OK.

I had my ball joint beam narrowed 80mm (3.14 inches) and just had to "massage" the inner guard area with BFH (big f'ken hammer) before paint went on. Beam now fits no probs. King and link pin beam will be different unless you run no shock towers, or custom towers. You can generally narrow 2 inches and plate the inner side of the shock tower with flat steel and get away with it...otherwise you have to modify the inner guards as well.

Does anyone know whether a narrowed and shockless beam is legal in NSW, thinking of a 7 inch narrowed beam, if it's not legal i'll just have an OG one ready for rego each year........

ren - June 16th, 2006 at 02:25 PM

surely it wouldn't be legal to run no shocks, in any state....

pyr0 - June 16th, 2006 at 02:27 PM

depends on your deffinition of shocks ;) as the leaves in the bar work as a shock absorber. but no i dont think its legal anywhere.
