hi guys, i am new to this section but always see posts on cars labelled rats. now, some of these look REALLLLY nice, so just wondering what are the typical characteristics of a "rat" bug?

Did someone open a can of worms?

Here's my understanding, but no doubt there will be many variations. A rat is an unrestored car, og paint or patinated preferable / minimal surface rust on the exterior (the odd bit of lichen in nice), with reconditioned suspension, brakes, stonking engine (preferable), a set of nice wheels, and slammed to the max. Four good examples that I can think of are Calcools 58 (Frenzix's old bug), Deck Dubby's single cab, Stealth's panel, and the Hertz bug.

I was always told a rat was a car made out of bits around the shed...with some new bits and old bits...but thats a hot rod thing. And I could be wrong
