Clean with Scotch Brite Pad?????????
don't use water.....
just think of the money youd save on water and detergent,,,,lololol
I am doing this to mine , no paint just a clear coat over the top .
the clear will go yellow and flake off.just a wipe with steel wool

that's pretty cool!
you can get clear primers. maybe that then a clear gloos over the top
I used a clear rust proof paint on the posts in may shed 15 years ago and it hasn't gone yellow... Dunno how it would go on a car, but its worth a try.... the only draw back that I can see with it is its glossy!
I'm sure that recently some-one on this forum wanted to clear lacquer a polished bare metal body and the DoT said NO because it was just too much
bling.
Maybe to dull it down and lacquer it could be OK.
What about dull it down and then knurl (machine turn) it all over first. That would be WAY COOL.
I think most of the peeps that are wanting to do this are looking to show off the rawest of steel finishes.... I know one dude that wants to show off all the welding he's done, and all the dents he hasn't fixed up, and maybe to slow down the rust creep... the engine cover on my Ragtop is raw steel and its covered in a very fine surface rust... Looks the business againsted the decayed OG paint and patina IMHO. But one thing I do know about clears over raw steel.... No paint will stick to polished surface...
If it's any help guys, there's a fair few over here in the UK who just 2K lacquer over bare metal or patina. I've seen gloss, satin & matt
finishes running around.
A quality lacquer with anti-aging UV shouldn't yellow.
