Hi everyone, my bugs getting a little long in the tooth and have started to rebuild/hack it into something different. my intension is two tone, and as smooth and low as possible. dont know what category it will fall under when its done but i know it doesnt belong in the bugs section of the forums and i love volksrods.
That brings me to my next dilema, to remove guards or not, i love the shape of the oriiginal, but i love them without aswell, but am not liking the idea of crafting rod style guards as that could go very badly:crazy: or really well.(and ive already got brand new porsche style headlights for it which ive grown rather fond of)
which ever way, ima narrow the front beam, shave all door glass, handles, winders, quarter windows, and anything else i can basically.
and the rest, im not sure yet, it'll come to me as i go i guess, if anyone has some mad ideas feel free to let me know, heres some pics of the car before and progress so far
peace love and volkswagens too all, hee hee

man that this is sick! where did u source the speedo from and the guage housing on the right?
nice ride dude.

thanks, the speedo is a standard one that ive repainted and renumbered, it was something i did in the origonal build as i was layed up with a busted knee. quite simple really.
as for the guage panels, they came out of a random car that my brother and i picked up a while ago. who ever owned it had them made i think, they are machined aluminium, but not polished(something i intend on fixing), then backed with simply a bit of stained balsa.
the dash layout will stay pretty well as is, bar a color change andhalf swing moon eyes tacho i picked up at a show.

or did you mean the one on the colum for the tacho? its just a normal splitfire housing (often seen on bonnets of comondores). fits nicely with a stainless hose clamp around the early colunm, and far enough away from the wheel. it used to live infront of the speedo, but i got told to move it as it obstructs the view.
Who watches their speedo anyways, lol
