Hi all, just about to get a wonderfully patina'd VW on the road, and while she has been mechanically overhauled, of course looks like complete crap
(by choice, of course) with surface rust only (panels and structure are A1).
I have never tried to get new paperwork on such an ugly car, and would like to make the process as painless as possible.
I'm hoping I can get some leads on some sympathetic/reasonable inspection stations that will not have a problem with surface rust.
Many thanks in advance for any clues...at any location in Sydney.
Have a chat to Damo at Monster Garage Penrith.
if it's safe it will pass i have seen many rats go through with no worries but they must be safe and dson't try and pull the wool over there eyes
Make sure things like the wiring and engine bay are as neat as possible.
Thanks for your comments so far.
Maybe I wasn't being explicit enough in my original question. This rat is to be 'blue slipped' after being off the road for a 1/4 century.
It is solid as, engine and brakes all replaced etc, but looks like shite.
We all know the rules (if the car is 'sound' it will be fine), but pissing off an inspection station by telling them how much they don't know their
job usually leads to a waste one one's time...and the search for another inspection site.
Any rat owners (or friend's of) that have leads on Sydney inspection sites sympathetic to the 'patina'?
Many thanks in advance.

not any more, old thread mate...
sorry about that.. anyone got tips?
its simple it will ether meet the rules or not. if it doesnt dont cry just fix the problem. there is a provision for surface rust so long as its not structural and bubbling.
