well the volksrod needs a bit of work to get engineered, so i got a 72 beetle as a daily driver....lots planned, this is how she is after day one of
ruining it...haha

That looks soooo good! I love it
Hoodjacks, is there something interesting lurking under that bootlid?
With stock peashooters I'd be surprised
lol..yep just stock, only got car regoed today, will throw an exhaust on it, maybe some carbs, not going too mental, will save that for the volksrod....
bring her out on the weekend
we are heading to this on sunday, we are meeting at north point cafe at the beach end of north rd brighton around 9.30 for coffee then roll to the
show, even if you are not interested in the show swing by for coffee before hand
cheers and fee; free to let other dubbers know
type 3 contingent
Nice daily
cheers, she is well hate on Melburg Luft, im finding that site to be very narrow minded....at least here people seem a little more relaxed...

i thought melburgluft was meant to be the cool forum, i friend told me that this one was the rude forum, seems the opposite to be true, ive never had so much crap on a forum until melburg luft, whats the deal? im sure some here are on it, did i miss something? Why are they so...well like the Nazi Party?

Who did you end up ordering your struts through??
I'd be really interested to see how low you can get it.
We're about to make a start on getting my mum's old 'L-bug' back on the road, would be super sweet to have it sitting down a bit 8)
I look forward to some more progress 8)
struts are getting modded, rather than new ones, all done by certified welder etc...ill pm you with more details, you probably know what we are doing anyway ...if not ill pm it...rear just resetting spring plates.....

fat lady is pissing oil out...im still driving it but she is leaving a nice satin wherever i park...some times its a little sometimes alot....she is my daily so dont want her off the road too long....who in melb, (im now in sunbury) would be able to have a quick peek at her and see if they can figure out where its coming form...i know many of u are a wizz with vw engines..so rather than me poke about guessing..i figure one of you guys would figure it out alot quicker, and more accurately....if she is cactus or a big big job..ill just get another engine....dont want to spend too much time or money on her as want to get into the volksrod. cheers
where does the oil drop on the gound in relation to the motor above ? Left, right, middle, front rear ?
id say front, where the engine and trans mate up....that seems to be main area...
Sounds like the rear main seal.....easy fix .
How long was it unreg for ?
umm not long..its all registered now...i drive it nearly everyday.....how long..a weekend job..i am reasonably mechanically minded..new to vw engines...seems straight forward enough from watching a youtube clip on it....lol....
Engine out flywheel off and replace rear main seal.
few hours
few hours at your place? with beers...and candy...haha
id come give a hand
Can be done,
that would rock......

I had my first crack at dropping the motor on Saturday. Start to finish 2 hours, but I was very hesitant, "measure three times cut once" sort of deal. If I was doing it again I reckons it's 30-45 minutes and that's probably still being careful. Everything you read says it's easy and it really is http://www.vw-resource.com/engine4.html
