I will start posting updates here from this point on. I figured I could ad the link instead of trying to post it all here.
Leave me some feedback if you check it out please. Any comments or suggestions would be great.
Thanks
Brandon
Nice chop! Looks very cool.
Hit the shed for a few minutes this morning when I got off work. Ash tray section in! Now waiting on the oval speaker section and grill to come in the
mail.
Any feedback would be great!
Lol
looking great mate! fooking forward to more updates.
Got another package yesterday.
Had to do a little trimming.
All tacked in. Starting to look like a hacked oval RHD dash.
A little filler and a ton of sanding, it was time for some primer.
Speedo and ash tray insert in. Ash tray cover is still drying. As is the center section, so I'll put the rest together tomorrow and post a pic.
I forgot to update it Monday. Here is a pic with the ash tray and grill in place.
Thanks
Brandon
wow! well done
It's not perfect. I left a few small dents that were already present. After all it is a rat!
In need of OPINIONS please.
Instead of the traditional beam extension I'm thinking about moving my entire body back 12" and doing a 4" body drop. With custom pans. I know
I'll have to move my pedals but that's a given since I'm goin RHD. I know it will be a lot of work but I think it'll turn out good. Plus it will
shorten the bed to a tad over 5' look more proportional to the whole build.
Thanks
Brandon
It's been a while here is a few pics.
Mounted up a old 40 I had so I can start on the bed Friday. Overlook the paint job long story, helped keep surface rust down.
A better pic of the dash, "outside".
thats cool mate! Polised wood tray on back, black iron cross on
the doors
How are vw's accepted in the hot rod scene over there?
Love the back of the cab and the chop. Looks great.
Hey Brandon looking good! I've got every bit of your rhd pedal set except the peice which ataches to the lhs of the tunnel, still trying to find one for free.if you can hang out a bit longer I'll turn one up. Definatly shift the body back! Section it as well awesome! And the jackmans on the rear sweet as! Keep chopping an posting.
Any comments on this? FYI bed is just setting on there for photos.
There a accepted over here quite well.
Any suggestions? I have matching wheels for the front 4" wide though. Still waiting on tires

Looking good, have been watching this for a while now,
what about rear corner windows A-LA_ 23 window splitty or off some other make if the size would work better,
old Ford or Dodge truck or something similar
Nath
Mate i like the smaller front wheel and keep the big fats for the back.
Are you going to have a small tray in the back before the motor? If you are i would have the tray floor raised and then you could build a compartment
underneath, like how the single cab kombis have.
Gday Bud,
This type of build is what I wish we could see more of in Aus. Had I seen your buid earlier, I may have re thought my build. Your chopped truck really
shows what can be achieved with a litttle imagination and good old fasion now how.
I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
Keep posting on here, this place could do with some fresh builds.
We need as much insperation as possible.
Regards
Fatty
The corner glass would be awesome, but I don't think I could pull it off. I'm a novice this is my first build of this sort.
The bed.........
I plan on raising the bed floor about 5" to hide the tranny. I'm gonna finish it out in cedar. I also have the tailgate cut and tacked together.
Just no pics yet, sorry.
The bed came off of a 80's model ford. I'll post some before, during, and after pics.
I copied this out of another forum I'm in.
started to dismantle the bed. Got floor out then the rain came. Bad part about not havin a shop.......
Got a little done on the bed this afternoon. One bed side cut down and tacked together. The pics aren't the greatest but you will see why I had to
quit working.
Ended up taking out 40 1/2" the bed side is now 40 1/8" long.
I still have to trim the inner fender well out to fit around upper shock mount. In this pic it's just setting up there. So I don't wanna hear no
shit about it! Lol
Just a different angle. I still gotta trim the fender well like I said, Gonna clean up fender area first and see how it looks. I want the bed to set
roughly 2"-3" below the back window.
Any opinions or suggestions?
Han to notch rear cross member to clear the pulley.
Just another shot, plan on fillin it and makin it look better.
How I found it.
Random shot of my son and I. He is 15 months old and loves the VW
Very nice build am about to start a similar one willl be watching this with great interest..
Sam
cool mate, i like it
Love it. Tough as.
Just read your thread at thesamba last week, and now I found your a member here also. Cool.
Will keep watching.
Nice build,
Would a type 3 engine be worth while? It would give you more room and a tray of some sorts?
Mitchell
I agree, a pancake engine sealed correctly would mean more tray space.
