Hi guys and gals am new to the whole vw scene have loved them for years but have finally got one to build my own.. It's a 66 model that I wanted to
build into a rat ute to use as a run around for work ..
Progress upto date is ute conversion 3 inch roof chop .. Moved front been forward 100mm and up 50mm .. Will post pics once I work out how
Nice.....where you located dude?
Hi I am in Hornsby..
Here is what we started with..
The roof chopped and dummied back on..
Doors and roof all tacked back together
Made up a bracket to move the beam forward 100mm and up 50mm..
Rear firewall in and tray all mocked up..
Looks like a home made oval window, lol.
I'm just up near Hornsby. Hope to see this on the road around the joint soon. Lookin good.
Looks awesome so far
Have you talked to your engineer they seem to get the s***s with extended beams even though yours looks bombproof?
If you do get yours certified there will be plenty of buyers on here.
You are the guys that build sick rock crawlers, maybe you are your own engineer?
Dave
Dave no we arent engineers unfortunately we have one we use regularily so I will get him to have a look at it..
Sam
Good luck with it....he may want you to change the fuel tank as well
If he signs it off you need to start a mini production line and sell each one with an endorsed certificate, 'cos all the imported ones seem to cause
guys over here grief.
Dave
Lol fuel tanks are in the back ..
Might have to do a forum special what dramas are they having with the imported ones
I think the engineers make them get their extenders x-rayed to check for cracks/imperfections etc, ends up very exy$$
A bit ott; just eyeballing yours you know it aint going to break!
Dave
Thats no drama I have had to do that with heaps of other parts we have made .. More than happy to get the testing done and sell them with a
certificate If there is a demand for them..
Sam
Not a good photo but one of it at close to ride height..
Getting close for paint..
Lokking good....what colour?
Satin black orange wheels and sign writing
Some updated pics will hopefully be on the road this weekend )
Hi Sam,
Simon here!(ex green 200sx) might drop in and have a look, looks good in the pictures.
Looks excellent. Hope to see this getting around soon as I live in the Hornsby area.
