Hi guys does anyone know if those door openers "inside only" like the drag guys use are cams approved , my new car has shaved door handles. I'll
try and find a pic for you but I did see that Chris boltons drag beetle has the style I'm referring to.
I just got a new tablet and cannot for the life of me figure out how to copy a image over,ggrrr....but anyways I have seen two styles one where a cut
out in the window allows someone to open the door through the window and the other the mechanism is just outside the window.confusing??
Thanks
Fabo
Ummm... like most stuff I think will depend on class.
Improved Production (which pretty sure you run - yeah ?) the door handles have to stay stock, or at least aftermarket equivalent to stock. Electronic
locks and actuators not allowed (and must be disabled if fitted as stock)
Sports Car Closed and Sports Sedan of course it's "go nuts".
If it was me, I'd be "unshaving" the door handles...
Thanks for that sides, I think I'll be running in sports sedan class without actually being a full lightweight sports sedan car. So that is good news for me, don't have to find 2 doors now
No probs dude.
From current CAMS regs for 3D Sports Sedan, section 3.6
(iv) Frontdoors:Front doors may be functional and must retain the original external shape. All window regulator mechanisms may be removed. Original
front door catches and hinges may be replaced with suitable alternative fittings. Internal anti-theft locks must be rendered inoperative.
Where the front doors are made an integral part of the coachwork, the cockpit must be so configured that the driver must be able to exit the car
within “9” seconds by the driver’s side, and “11” seconds by the passenger side, starting with the driver’s harness fitted and tightened
and with the steering wheel, if removable, in place.
btw definitely consider going nuts.... fiberglass guards, lexan windows, speed holes, slicks, the whole deal.
After all since the rules allow it should take every benefit you can !!!!
Come over to the dark side Dave

I'll be cheering you on
No bonfire but no car either.
I bought out my business partner this year so have been very committed in my time there.
Is there camping there for non-entrants? I may stay Saturday night in the Dormobile if there is.
