Hey there
I got to have a day off and go watch the lads and ladies throw their cars around the Mt Cotton circuit.
Great work from Dave Sidery to take 2nd place in the 1601-2000cc Improved Production category. A vid below shows the run where he recorded a 50.99sec
time.
Some good driving and good saves by others. New outright lap record of 36.51sec by Brett Hayward was very impressive. His open wheeler runs in the
1301-2000cc Formula Libre class.

Dave can share more info. Good to catch up and chat Dave.
Nice one, thanks guy's
looking quick and clean
Great to catch up at the track Marcus - thanks for the vid, and cheers for the comments guys !!!
QHC was a blast - even with the crappy track conditions and only 12 runs across the 2.5 days instead of my usual 30 plus.
Friday afternoon's private practice the patchy on again off again rain made for a very greasy track, and most people (including me) decided
discretion was the better part of valor and left the race cars in their tents.
Saturday not much to speak of on the rain front, but the track was still pretty treacherous and lots of incidents and some heavily damaged cars.
Particularly up in the second loop where there was basically zero grip on the racing line. Helping a mate get his very bent MGB V8 home meant I missed
most of the day, but managed to put down 5 runs in the final hour of practice to for a 51.53 best.
Sunday the track dried out everywhere except the second loop, where the surface was so bad the flaggy's found it hard to walk across the track. Most
of us mere mortals were taking things pretty easy, but somehow the guys on slicks were able to put in decent times. Split times from my runs showed I
was close to usual pace in the 2nd and 3rd sectors, but losing around a second and a half in the first sector. Traction off the line was pretty low,
but I was surprised it accounted for that much time... watching my in-car vid tho found the culprit - I was braking about 3 car lengths early into the
hairpin !!!
So run 5 for the day (that Marcus video'd) I managed to convince myself to brake later, and despite close to botching the start managed to pull the
50.99... 1 second slower than my PB, but solidly into 2nd place behind Danny's monster Escort.
No big surprise is that Jezebel behaved perfectly across the weekend, and seemed to be pretty popular with the crowd - quite a few people coming up to
chat, and more than a few "is there a Porsche motor in there" type questions. Combined with the usual little kids pointing and waving or getting
their photo taken with (and in) her... all made for a pretty fun weekend in my books.
yes was a great day sunday , awesome to see Brett beat the outright lap record (again)
& he`s almost finished building his new car too,,, that should be something to see
i watched one of your runs Sidey but didn`t get a chance to come say hi i`m sorry,. had to shoot off (just before the rain sunday arv) my dad is in
hospital getting angiogram & a stent fitted (funny enough)
Nice sides, what was the time of first place and what they drive..any in car??
Congrats on your result Dave, really good.
Awesome footage Marcus, clear as.
Cheers Col
yep good to catch up and meet you Dave. we watched your runs and looked like you were having fun.
we were standing next to Brett's wife when he did his run and she nearly had kittens there and then!
Marcus, sorry i didn't catch up with you, was that your single cab in the car park?
Yes Lou
I didn't spot you either
Great days racing.
Brett Hayward won the day outright in his home-buily open-wheeler-special with a 1600cc Hayabusa bike engine
36.51 is the new outright lap record
i think Piers Harrex (Son of Simon Harrex from RX automotive) took the class out with his BMW, 46.2 i think it was (not possitive tho)
edit--> oops my bad, wrong class , sorry
In my class (Imp Prod 1601-2000cc) it was Danny Mischok got the honors in his monster Escort... around 4 seconds ahead of me on a mid 46.something.
I'd like to think being smashed so badly by Danny gives me something to aim for... but with the $$$ that have gone into his car, I'm not so sure my
bank manager will agree !!!
Below is my in-car from the same run as Marcus's vid. I'll also post the one from my final p!ssing down wet run when get a chance.
btw good to meet you Lou, and apologies not connecting who you were straight off... something about my brain and memory struggles after had a few runs
on a track.
Great driving Dave, you certainley now your way around that track.
If you find a lazy 100k you might catch Danny
Thanks for posting your in car footage, and congrats.
Cheers Col
No room for error round the top sections or the finish line...how's that bug tech shifter??
