About a month or so ago, I competed in the "Tour De Course" Tarmac Rally - held over 4 days in SEQ at Lakeside, Mount Cotton, Willowbank, Queensland
Raceway & Morgan Park.
Over 33 Timed event's, the Golf R triumphed over a big bunch of Targa prepped STI's, EVO X's, R35 Skylines and a host of other specials.
First time a VW has won one of Motoring Events Management's Rallies (in 15 years).
Needless to say, I think a lot more Jap owners will be switching to this platform in the future.

well done Guy
Great work Guy
well done Guy, imagine the result had they included a drag race event as well!
Great result Guy!!
Great work Guy!! Have you considered entering World Time Attack challenge? You would turn some heads in clubsprint or open class.
Isaac
What a guy!!
Thanks Gent's - it's great to upset the regular Japanese tarmac crowd. Lou, they did plan a drag event but the track was wet (morning with cloud
cover), so they ran a giant motorkhana instead.
Isaac, we ran the WTA a2 years ago in clubsprint class, but struggled with the tyres and how much horsepower we had - the class is really built around
EVO / WRX and our big issue is the lack of aerodynamics / tyre footprint to remain competitive in that environment. It was certainly fun to cut a
hundred laps of Eastern Creek, but couldn't challenge for a place running 1:50's
Fair enough! I would sure love to see some aero on the golf! my friends are running a supercharged S2k this year which should keep the AWD crowd pretty honest.
This is our next step - don't think we can keep it registered when we widen it 6 inches though....
Is that a titanium exhaust or SS? Time for a bigger front splitter and rear diffuser perhaps?
Tough as!
